Olympic Skier Graham Bell has hit a ridiculous 117mph, while being towed by a Jaguar XF.
You don’t need us to tell you how badly wrong this could have gone, so we have to give Bell and aguar props for having the balls to give it a go.
They took on the record in the Arctic Circle,at Jaguar Land Rover’s Revi Test Facility in Arjeplog, Sweden.
It Was Seriously Cold…
The temperature was a crisp -28 Centigrade, which would be a dealbreaker for me. Bell is made of sterner stuff.
He was towed behind the Jaguar XF Sportbrake fitted with all-wheel drive and the car was so stable that they managed to smash the previous record by a full 47mph.
Jeremy Hicks, Jaguar Land Rover UK MD, said: “The XF Sportbrake’s superb traction, handling and high speed stability made it the perfect choice for this speed record attempt. We’re extremely proud to have supported Graham in this incredible world-beating achievement – it’s this kind of trail-blazing activity that really tests our cars to their limits.
“The XF Sportbrake builds on the success of the saloon and has all of the advanced all-wheel drive (AWD) technologies and aluminium-intensive architecture that have made the XF a multi-award winner.”
That’s the usual press release BS then, but it is quite impressive that somebody held on to the back of a car and didn’t let go.
Good Work Crazy Fella’
We like feats of sheer insanity like this one and we’re happy to give him a slightly nervous thumbs up and a ‘good work fella.’
Obviously, though, don’t try this at home. We know it sounds obvious, but then we also know that if we had some skis and access to snow right now, it’s the kind of thing we might try out of sheer curiosity.
So do, it will be hilarious. But don’t, as in sue us…
